Right to Life of Michigan

Addressing important issues – with confidence

Knowing what to say when writing a letter, making a phone call or meeting with an elected official can be nerve-racking, but it doesn't need to be. The following talking points can be used as a starting point for contacting your lawmakers.

Separate Abortion From Family Planning
•Our tax dollars are still being used to subsidize abortion-promoting agencies! Michigan residents voted to end medicaid-funded abortion in 1988, but our money is still being funneled to Planned Parenthood, the #1 abortion provider in the United States. H.B. 4655 would give priority to family planning agencies that are the least involved in abortion advocacy. Vote yes on H.B. 4655 so that we can finally stop tax-subsidized abortion.

Pregnant and Parenting Student Services
•I am in support of H.B. 4564. Women in college deserve to know about available services when faced with a crisis pregnancy. This is positive legislation which provides support to women and unborn children in need!

Health Care Provider Conscience Protection
•No health provider should be forced to participate in health care services to which they have moral or religious objections. I support "Health Care Provider Conscience Protection." Health care providers should not have to fear losing their jobs, or suffering other consequences for declining to participate in a service that has clear ethical or moral implications.

Stillborn Tax Exemption
•Because of the grief and hardship families face after a stillbirth or miscarriage, I support H.B. 4165. The tax exemption will help ease financial burdens during an extremely difficult time.
