Speaking out for life
With courage, enthusiasm and a few butterflies in their stomachs,
prolife teens competed in a state-wide oratory contest. From across
Michigan, 16 young people participated in the Right to Life of Michigan
Education Fund Oratory Contest. For 15 contestants, this marked
the end of an exciting and challenging competition, but for the
first-place Michigan winner the speaking continues at the national
level.
Katrina Jackson, a senior at Saginaw's Community Baptist Christian
School, was awarded the first-place title. Katrina received a check
for $500 and an all-expense paid trip to Charlotte, North Carolina,
to compete in the National Right to Life Committee Oratory Contest
in June.
Each participant expressed his/her desire to promote the value
of life by speaking out confidently and passionately. These young
people will continue being a voice for the weakest members of our
society, proving that we can all work to promote life.
