Working Together: Church Leaders, Dr. Alveda King and Right to Life of Michigan
Dr. Alveda King, daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is following in the footsteps of her famous father and uncle. She carries a powerful prolife message throughout the country as Director of African-American Outreach for Gospel of Life Ministries. Those in attendance included: Elder Dr. and Mrs. Levon Yuille, Hon. Rev. Triette Reeves, Pastor Glenn Plummer, Rev. Jerome Warfield, Mrs. Donna Jones, Evangelist Briggie Stansberry-Beater, Mrs. Carolyn Anderson, Rev. and Mrs. Jimmy Compton, Ms. Diane Brookins, Minister Alvin Weathersby. Kathy Crombie, RLM Director of Urban Outreach/Gift Planning, also had an opportunity to share the power point presentation “Life of a People” with Dr. King and her daughter, Celeste Beal, just before the meeting. Appreciative of the work of Right to Life of Michigan in the African-American community, Dr. King spoke highly of “Life of a People” and encouraged guests to schedule the presentation in their churches. The message from the meeting was clear: Working side-by-side with Right to Life of Michigan, combined with a strong and unified voice in the Black church, will help end abortions within the African-American community. It’s all about taking the message to the people. Crombie said, “We cannot delay in our work to protect the health of African-American
women and in protecting the lives of their unborn children. We’re looking
at an epidemic in the Black community. We must respond and respond now.
It really is a matter of life and death.” |
