Gaylord Teens Support Prolife Work
For five years, teenagers who are home-schooled in the Gaylord area have
been raising money for Right to Life of Michigan. In the first few years
they would put on car washes or bake sales as a way of raising money about
$300 to $400 dollars a year. In the last two years, they’ve used a silent
auction as their preferred fund-raising method. Each teen does something
to add items to the auction, be it baking, chopping wood, or canvassing
local businesses to donate an item.
At Gaylord Right to Life’s dinner this year, on May 10th, the teens presented
a check for approximately $1500 to the prolife cause. More than 20 home-schooled
teenagers assisted in the silent auction. Sherry Castle who helps the
teens organize their fund-raising efforts says that “this is a heartfelt
ministry” for the teens.
