Taking a Stand for Life

President Bush continues to protect the unborn

To the growing chagrin of those in favor of legal abortion, the President of the United States, George W. Bush, continues to show that he is not on their side and that he will continue to oppose their radical agenda. Throughout his presidency, groups like Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America and the National Organization of Women have gone out of their way to insult, slander and misinform the public about Bush's record on different issues that affect life. They call the President's efforts to protect the unborn and help women in crisis pregnancies a "War on Women." This from organizations which wholeheartedly support an elective procedure that has not only killed more than 40 million unborn children (approximately half females) in the last 30 years, but has also left countless women who abort physically and emotionally scarred.

Organizations that refuse to recognize the scientific fact that the life of a distinct, unique human being begins at conception accuse our President of "replacing science with right-wing ideology" because he appoints qualified prolifers to government positions and does not want our tax dollars going to organizations which support or participate in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.

During his time in office, President Bush has not only signed prolife legislation but is actively encouraging legislators to pass other pieces of legislation that will help to save lives. He has declared the Sundays before January 22 to be National Sanctity of Human Life Day in 2002 and 2003. President Bush has also continued to appoint judges who uphold the basic principles of our Constitution. U.S. Senators including Michigan's Senators Levin and Stabenow, unfortunately, have used filibusters to block many of these qualified candidates simply because they recognize that abortion kills an innocent human being.

As the 2004 Presidential election nears, proabortion organizations will be looking for a candidate whose views will mirror their radical positions on abortion. They hope they'll be able to find a candidate who can oust our President and reverse all the work he has done for the unborn. Many see Howard Dean as the most proabortion candidate vying for the presidency. Dean is a doctor and, as a medical student, performed his obstetrics and gynecology rotation at Planned Parenthood. For five years he served on the board of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. He claims to have never performed an abortion but says that he "certainly understands the medical procedures involved."

President Bush's record is clearly one that favors and upholds the right to life. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for any of the candidates that hope to challenge him.

If you would like to thank the President for his work on behalf of the unborn and others who cannot defend themselves, you can send an e-mail to: president@whitehouse.gov or a letter to The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500.
