It is Not Enough to Dream...We Must Do by Jessica Nelson

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers, but above all the world needs dreamers who do.”
I have been involved with Students for Life and the prolife movement for nine years, and since then it has been my dream to see legalized abortion come to an end. But as Eleanor Roosevelt said, it is not enough to dream . . . we must also do.
Standing up for what you believe in, sharing your message, standing strong -- that is doing something. One-third of my generation is gone, wiped out, non-existent because those who have gone before me have backed down. It is my generation that is being hurt; it is my generation that will make the difference. Most teenagers don’t realize how abortion affects them, but it does everyday. It takes away certain inalienable rights from those who need them most -- the unborn. We fight so hard to be taken seriously because we are teenagers, but we don’t realize the power of our own voice. We are constantly told how one voice can be the difference.
It is our time to be that difference; be that voice. It is our time to be a voice for those whose voices have already been silenced. Because if we don’t, who will?

Jessica Nelson recently was awarded Right to Life of Michigan's Outstanding Prolife Youth Award.
