Planned Parenthood pushes abortion abroad

Due to recent worldwide events, Planned Parenthood issued a press release. The press release claimed that the war in Iraq is a time of brutalizing and raping women because it is a "time-honored tradition of war." It also claimed that "twenty-five percent of women of reproductive age in refugee camps will be pregnant" and because of this, reproductive health care is essential in aiding refugees. It urges "the Administration to provide life-saving reproductive health services to refugees."

The first question: Life-saving for whom? How can an organization claim to be "life-saving" when it sets out to kill unborn children? No matter how it is portrayed in the media, abortion is the killing of a live, fully human baby. Planned Parenthood chooses to push abortion services on women who need real options the most, women in refugee camps.

Aborting babies of refugees will only increase grief. These refugee women are already in stressful situations and many are grieving over lost loved ones. To abort their children would cause more stress. Statistics show that women who have abortions are more likely to be depressed and more likely to commit suicide than women who do not have abortions, but give life to their children. To add the probable depression of abortion on top of the pain of being displaced from your home is not a true help to women.

Abortion should not be the cure for rapes and violations of women. Punish those who rape and abuse; not the innocent victims, women and unborn children.

Prolife people must take a stand and voice outrage regarding Planned Parenthood's plans for refugee women. Let your neighbors, friends and family members know that Planned Parenthood is advancing abortion services in Iraq. Write letters to the editor and letters to legislators urging the respect for all human life, born and unborn -- home and abroad.
