Planned Parenthood's Goal: Promoting Destruction

For years, an organization claiming to be a non-profit reproductive health care organization has used its influence to spread their message of abortion on demand or what they like to call "reproductive freedom" while profiting from the destruction that they bring.

In 2000, Planned Parenthood provided 197,070 abortions, making them America's largest abortion provider.

Planned Parenthood claims that it is for "reproductive choice," but a quick look at their affiliate service summary shows that they strongly advocate and push one option on women: the tragic choice of abortion. In 2000, Planned Parenthood referred a mere 2,486 women to adoption agencies and provided only 17,700 women with prenatal care. These numbers are meager at best when compared to the almost 200,000 abortions. Planned Parenthood's adoption and prenatal care numbers have fallen from the 1999 numbers while its abortion numbers rose by more than 14,000 from last year.

Planned Parenthood has even set up a web site that contains information and advice on how pregnant teens can try to avoid getting their parents' consent before having an abortion. This not only disregards parents' rights but endangers the young woman because her parents won't know that she recently underwent a dangerous procedure that has a host of potentially deadly complications.

Planned Parenthood hides behind being a non-profit organization, but a glance in the direction of their annual reports would find a strong evidence to contradict to that claim. In the last three years, Planned Parenthood has raked in a whopping $224.2 million dollars in profit (income in excess of expenditures). That's more than the annual GNP (gross national product) of some developing nations. Not bad business for an organization that isn't supposed to be making money.

In order to keep their business as lucrative as possible, Planned Parenthood lobbies at the state and national levels to try to stop prolife legislation from taking effect. The public policy efforts of Planned Parenthood center around their goal, "Educate policy makers about the important role abortion plays in protecting women's health and urge pro-choice Americans to speak out . . ." To promote this end, Planned Parenthood spent $24.5 million on public policy for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001. This money goes to support an array of lobbyists and lawyers, who work overtime in an attempt to deceive the public about legislation that has and will save lives.

Planned Parenthood is looking out for itself and it's purse strings, not "choice," not women and especially not their unborn children.
