An Update on the National Do-Not-Call Registry
In the last few months, millions of Americans, hoping to keep their
dinner time peaceful and avoid telemarketers who just won't take "no"
for an answer, have signed up on the National Do Not Call Registry.
According to their web site the "National Do Not Call Registry
will stop most, but not all, telemarketing calls. You may still receive
calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors
or companies with which you have an existing business relationship."
The National Do Not Call Registry does not affect Right to Life of
Michigan since non-profit organizations soliciting donations are not
covered by the registry.
Employees from Right to Life of Michigan who call prospective donors
will first identify themselves by name. They will also say that they
are from Right to Life of Michigan and that they are calling on behalf
of Barbara Listing, Right to Life of Michigan's president.
Families who receive calls from other organizations who are claiming
to do prolife work but are not calling from Right to Life of Michigan
should be wary. There are a few organizations who have little presence
and influence in our state's or nation's capitol but who claim to
be lobbying for important prolife legislation. Financial records for
these organizations show that most of the donations that they receive
from sincere people who want to help end up going to a telemarketing
firm and not to actual prolife work.
If you receive a call from an organization claiming to be prolife
and want to make sure that your donation is going to an organization
that is really working to help the prolife cause, feel free to call
the Right to Life of Michigan State Central Office at (616) 532-2300.
