Right to Life of Michigan

A Life Devoted to Saving Lives

On September 28, Right to Life of Michigan gave the Life Achievement Award 2002 to Bernie Mollema. Throughout his life, Bernie’s prolife beliefs have motivated him to use his abilities and contacts to help Right to Life of Michigan protect innocent life. During the Right to Life of Michigan Annual Conference banquet, Bernie was recognized for his dedication to saving lives.

Bernie, who is a retired CEO of Mollema and Sons (a regional horticultural supply company), was particularly motivated in 1988, during Proposal A, when Michigan voted to stop tax dollars going to fund abortion. Bernie was instrumental in the organization of a successful fund-raising breakfast for Right to Life of Michigan’s efforts in winning Proposal A. He also agreed to serve as a charter member of the board of trustees of the RLM Educational Endowment Fund. Bernie has also encouraged many others to donate their time, talent, and treasure to the prolife movement.

“I have always believed that if we educate people, they will understand the true tragedy of abortion,” says Mollema. “Education is the key, reaching people and touching their minds and hearts. Unfortunately, this does not come free.”

During his years of service, Bernie’s optimistic attitude and vigor for life have been a great blessing to RLM.
