Remembering the victims of January 22
January is not just a time to throw the old calendar out and
start afresh with new resolutions and aspirations; but it is also
a time of remembrance and thinking back on old resolutions. When
making your resolutions, please resolve to remember the decisions
made on January 22, 1973, and remember their consequences.
On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the decisions
in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton to allow women the constitutional
right to obtain an abortion in America at any time throughout
the nine months of pregnancy, provided they could find a doctor
willing to administer the abortion. Essentially, these grave decisions
established no significant legal barriers of any kind whatsoever
to abortion; establishing the unfettered right to kill babies
who deserve the right to live but cannot voice their right or
defend themselves.
As you are on the threshold of a new year, take time to remember
the repercussions of the tragic decision and what this decision
holds for the year to come. As you March for Life or join in any
number of January activities, please hold the victims of Roe v.
Wade in your heart.
The women and babies who have been hurt and killed by abortion
deserve our thoughts and should be the origin of our actions.
Do not just think of this as another year where babies are the
victims of the decision of Roe v. Wade, but as an opportunity
to save babies and help women who are facing a crisis pregnancy.
Everyone deserves the gift of life. Remember this gift in January
and throughout the year.
