Michigan remembers, mourns Roe vs. Wade
Michigan's prolife resolve was evident from January 13th through
January 27th. Hundreds of prolife communities participated in
more than 30 prolife events hosted by Right to Life of Michigan
affiliates. Prolife citizens gathered to remember, mourn and pray
for the more than 40 million unborn children who have lost their
lives to abortion since 1973. The citizens of Michigan came out
by the thousands to participate in prayer vigils, memorial services,
concerts, candle-light walks, marches, motorcades and rallies
to recognize the tragedy of the 29th anniversary of Roe v. Wade
and Doe v. Bolton. Full-page newspaper ads were also part of the
commemoration in Michigan bringing public awareness to the sanctity
of human life.
In this time of mourning and hope, Michigan's prolife people
of all ages, races, and creeds, from Bad Axe to Wyandotte, took
a stand for those who cannot protect themselves. Right to Life
of Michigan affiliates also sent 6 bus loads of people to the
March for Life in Washington, D.C.
Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing said, "As
President George W. Bush works to develop a culture of life in
the United States, we are doing all we can to bring attention
to the humanity of the unborn in Michigan. We will peacefully
continue to provide women and families with life-affirming options
when faced with an unplanned pregnancy."
