Right to Life of Michigan

You Have the Power to Save Lives
Remember to vote on November 5

Democracy is a word that strikes a cord with almost every American. It is the main principle upon which this great country was founded. Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines democracy as "government by the people" and "a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people..." In our country, unlike many others, free elections, where leaders are chosen by the people, have existed for hundreds of years.

Even though our forefathers had the insight to put the power of the government in the hands of the people, some people choose not to exercise this power. Our society, our government, and our unborn children suffer when Michigan's prolifers decide not to vote or when they vote for politicians that don't respect the sanctity of human life. The power that we have is taken away and given to politicians who see nothing wrong with abortion on demand. We should feel privileged to have this right and feel obligated to use the power of our vote to protect those who cannot speak for themselves.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, there were around 7.4 million people living in Michigan who were of voting age during the 2000 elections. Of these 7.4 million people, over half a million of them were not registered to vote. Of the 6.9 million Michigan citizens that were registered to vote, only 4.3 million decided to exercise this important right during the general election on November 7, 2000.

If you are not registered to vote, please register for the General Election before October 7, 2002, by using the Michigan Voter Registration Application on page 6. It is also important to encourage other prolifers to register if they aren't currently registered and to go to the polls with the desire and knowledge to help elect prolife candidates. If you are already registered to vote, go to the polls on November 5, 2002 and use the power entrusted to you to fight for life.

We have been working hard to get prolife citizens registered to vote. At the same time, we have made plans for an unprecedented get-out-the-vote effort in preparation for the November 5 general election. Will you help us get out the prolife vote? Make plans to vote on November 5 and bring as many prolifers as you can with you!
