U.S. House passes partial-birth abortion ban
The U.S. House voted with a defining bipartisan majority to end partial-birth abortions July 24. The bill, sponsored by Congressman Steve Chabot of Ohio, had 154 House cosponsors.

Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing said, "Praise is due for the House members who voted to keep women and children from being victimized by partial-birth abortions."

The vote on passage for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2002, HR 4965, was 274 to 151.

The successful bipartisan effort in the U.S. House now puts pressure on the U.S. Senate to protect the most vulnerable members of our human family and to represent the people of this great country.

The facts are clear. This abortion procedure is not needed according to doctors, not wanted by the American people and not supported by lawmakers, Republican and Democratic alike.

"We need to encourage U.S. Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow to not be indifferent to the pain and plight of the voiceless who would be subjected to this unneeded abortion technique," Listing said.

Women or men facing a crisis pregnancy can obtain assistance by calling 1-800 57 WOMAN. Abortion never needs to be the final choice. Families need access to life-affirming choices, not just "choice" rhetoric.
