Yard sale benefits life
On June 1, the parking lot of Right to Life of Michigan's Wayne
County Resource Center was packed with donated items and potential
buyers. The sale, which was organized by the Downriver area affiliates,
cost nothing and helped raise more than $900 for the Right to
Life of Michigan Educational Fund. Affiliates and members of the
community donated various items from toys to household wares to
books. Numerous items for mothers-to-be and babies were also donated.
These items, which included cribs, strollers, baby and maternity
clothes, were then given to Allen Park Crisis Pregnancy Center.
Chris MacDonald, who manages the Wayne County Resource Center,
felt the sale was a huge success. She was very pleased with the
amount of donated goods and money that was raised, but was even
more excited that they had the opportunity to touch the hearts
of many people who might not otherwise visit the Resource Center.
Chris thinks these people will return to the Resource Center now
that they know it's in the neighborhood and that we "don't
bite."
Chris credits the success of the sale to everyone who donated
and/or volunteered to help and good publicity. She is especially
thankful to the many pastors who encouraged their congregations
to attend and donate items.
