Supreme Court Reverses Rico Ruling

The U.S. Supreme Court, in an 8-1 ruling, reversed a lower-court RICO ruling which hindered prolife protests in front of abortion clinics. This is a prolife victory.

Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who wrote the majority opinion for the high court, noted that protesters do not “obtain” the property of abortion clinics. Also, prolife protesters are not subject to racketeering laws.

The only dissenting justice was John Paul Stevens.

Prolife picketing provides opportunities to educate abortion-minded women and the general public about the value of human life as well as positive alternatives to abortion. Peacefully, we must reach out to women in need.
