When discussing their positions on the issue of abortion, many candidates for public office are up-front and honest with regards to where they stand. Others attempt to hide their position on abortion in an effort to win votes. This is one reason why it is important that voters know the positions of candidates before they vote for them.

In an attempt to help the voters of Michigan know where a certain candidate stands on the issue of abortion, Right to Life of Michigan has developed a new web site, www.granholmgarble.com.

This web site will inform visitors about gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Granholm's position on abortion. On a regular basis, the site will be updated with clear-cut facts on where Jennifer Granholm stands on life issues. The site gives visitors the opportunity to voice their thoughts on the issue by signing a petition stating, "I am prolife and I want a prolife governor!" The web site also allows visitors to send e-postcards to friends and family so they, too, can sort through and find answers to Granholm's garble.

In a recent article by the Gongwer news service, Ms. Granholm responded to the web site, www.granholmgarble.com, and the inconsistencies of her position with the position of the Catholic Church by saying, "There are a number of folks in the Catholic Church who believe life begins at conception, but it is a matter of faith and we should not impose faith on others. Government has no role, and I'm pro-choice."

The fact is: life begins at conception. Science has proven that at conception, sperm joins ovum to form a single cell which contains the genetic blueprint for every detail of development – sex, hair and eye color, height, skin tone and more. Only a few folks would deny the scientific fact that human life begins at conception. Perhaps Ms. Granholm should consult a high school biology text. Ms. Granholm excels at diverting attention away from her total support of abortion by attempting to demean members of her Catholic faith.

If a pro-abortion person is elected governor of Michigan, the hard work of our state's prolife legislators may be null and void. Attempts to pass legislation that reflects a culture of life will meet a roadblock in the governor's veto power. Michigan's top leader will view the unborn as choices, not children. This cannot and will not happen if the loyal prolife citizens of this state work to inform their neighbors, families, and friends about pro-abortion candidates.

It is imperative that Michigan's voters know the extreme positions that Jennifer Granholm holds on the crucial issues that involve human life. Her positions are incompatible and completely unrepresentative of the majority of Michigan's citizens. Please visit this site, sign the petition, and send e-postcards to everyone who might not know that Jennifer Granholm holds an outrageous pro-abortion position.
