ABORTION ON DEMAND MOURNED

Grand Rapids, MI The majority of Michigan citizens do not agree with the
current tenet which allows abortion on demand through all nine months of
pregnancy. Because of this conviction, thousands of people are gathering
across Michigan motivated to take action and peacefully show that women are
worth more than abortion.

Two ill-conceived U.S. Supreme Court decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v.
Bolton, passed in the early winter of 1973, are in question. These two
decisions have resulted in 34 years of exploited, hurt women and the deaths
of more than 46 million unborn children.

Prolife groups across Michigan mourn these statistics and wish to pay
tribute to the countless told and untold stories of those affected by
legalized abortion. Their conviction and passion for the rights of women
and unborn children are evident in the dozens of memorial services,
marches, prayer vigils and trips to our nations capitol during the month
of January in loving memory of the lives lost over the years to abortion. A
complete list of local right to life events scheduled throughout Michigan
can be found at GOTOBUTTON BM_1_ www.rtl.org.

Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing said, An entire
generation of women has come to adulthood being falsely led to believe that
abortion is a well-deserved right. Unfortunately, as most of us have
learned from past experience, being legal does not automatically translate
to being ethical or moral. We continue to take a stand in support of
healthy, life-affirming choices for women and for the right to life of all
unborn humanity.

In addition to the many local community events planned, hundreds of people
from Michigan will be traveling to Washington D.C. to join the annual March
for Life. This event, held on the streets leading up to the U.S. Supreme
Court, will occur Monday, January 22, and will include thousands of
peaceful demonstrators and marchers to commemorate the memorial of one of
the deadliest decisions handed down from our nations high court.
