Thousands Mourn Tragic
Loss of 48 Million
Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Thousands of Michigan citizens will gather
across the state and nationally to mourn the tragic loss of more than
48 million lives on the 35th memorial of two 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decisions
which legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.
The Roe v.
Wade and Doe v. Bolton rulings overturned the laws of
50 states and changed the way women and families face untimely pregnancies.
The rulings were touted as victories for women. The victory, however,
was short lived for many. Mothers who obtained legal abortions have suffered
from psychological, physical and emotional injuries following the procedure.
Some of those women will be speaking at events in Michigan for Sanctity
of Human Life Sunday, January 20, and for the 35th memorial of Roe
v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton , January 22.
Prolife groups across
Michigan will mourn the lost lives and pay tribute to the women and families
hurt by legalized abortion. More than 50 memorial services, marches, prayer
vigils and trips to Washington, D.C. are scheduled. A complete list of
local events scheduled
in Michigan can be found at www.rtl.org.

President Barbara Listing said, “Thirty-five years of abortion on demand
demonstrates that now is the time to offer women true hope when faced
with an untimely pregnancy. Precious and irreplaceable unborn children
have died because abortion has failed women. This is not a victory for
women or their unborn children.”
Right to Life of Michigan
is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization of diverse and
caring people united to peacefully protect the precious gift of human
life from fertilization to natural death.
