Bishop Donald F. Hanchon
Bishop Hanchon was born in Jackson, Michigan to John Michael and Alfreda (Glinicki) Hanchon. He was the middle of seven children and attended parochial schools until the moment he entered the former Cardinal Mooney Latin School in 1961. He is a graduate of Sacred Heart Seminary (BA,1969), St. John's Provincial Seminary (1972) and has Master's degrees in Theology (University of Detroit, 1972); Liturgy (University of Notre Dame, 1974); and Ministry (St. John's Provincial Seminary, 1982).
He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit on October 19, 1974. Since the mid 80's he has completed studies in Spanish and Hispanic Culture in Mexico and has served as a pastor in parishes serving the Hispanic community.
He was named Monsignor in 2005, and in the fall of 2009 was designated collaborator in the Central Region of the Archdiocese of Detroit and will continue to serve as Regional Moderator.
On March 22, 2011, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Detroit and Titular Bishop of Orreomargo.

Socorro Truchan
Socorro Truchan, was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico to Mexican parents and was raised within a Spanish-speaking family, and English and French-speaking communities throughout her lifetime.
Socorro attended Catholic schools in Columbia, Missouri and Mexico City, graduating from Kenitra American High School in Morocco, North Africa where she and her family lived for four years. A graduate of Purdue University, Socorro received the Honorary Citizen Award which was presented by Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana.
Most recently she has studied Bilingual/Bicultural Education at Eastern Michigan University and is enrolled at Sacred Heart Major Seminary where she is working towards a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry.
Married and the mother of four children, Socorro also works full time as coordinator for marriage, family and pro-life ministries in the Archdiocese of Detroit. |
