Volunteers make Abortion Insurance Opt-Out law possible

Michigan prolife advocates recently celebrated a significant victory, the passage of the citizen-initiated Abortion Insurance Opt-Out Act. Our tax dollars and health insurance premiums will not be used to pay for elective abortions because of prolife volunteers. Prolife people gathered signatures for 4 months to place the Abortion Insurance Opt-Out Act before the Michigan Legislature. The Michigan House (62-47) and Senate (27-11) passed the bill on December 11, 2013. The Abortion Insurance Opt-Out law will take effect on March 14, 2014.

Meghan's Journey

Meghan Marie Salter came into the world on October 16, 2002. For the first three weeks, she ate, grew, slept, and did everything a healthy, happy baby would do. Then her health started to change during the second week of November. The Salter family reflects the reality of the sanctity of all human life. There is a duty for the strong to defend the weak. We must make the choice to respect all human life with no exceptions.

Defending the gift of life

Forty-one years have passed since the landmark Supreme Court rulings that changed our nation’s response to pregnancy. Forty-one years and the words Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton still echo in the hearts of all who defend the right to life. Because of Roe and Doe abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy. Because of Roe and Doe some do not have the right to opportunities, the right to live and breathe and grow and laugh and love and be a part of this crazy place we call the world.

Connie was a prolife champion for all children, born and unborn. She fought some of the toughest prolife battles seen in our State Capitol over issues like Medicaid funding for abortion and requiring parental consent for minors seeking abortion.
