Prolife rally draws hundreds to Capitol

The Rally at the State Capitol commemorating the 36th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade was a tremendous success. The rally sponsored by Right to Life affiliates of Greater Lansing, Mason Area, Clinton County, Eaton County and Grand Ledge drew over 300 in attendance, including Bishop Earl Boyea, Deacon Gideon Marsal, Pastor Paul Daniels, Pastor Lawrence Gosselin as well as several elected officials: Sen. Alan Cropsey, Sen. John Gleason, Rep. Rick Jones, Rep. Jim Slezak, Rep. Pete Lund, Rep. Matt Lori and Rep. Tom McMillin. Groups came from counties as far away as Isabella, Genesee, Oakland, Macomb, Wayne and Washtenaw, along with Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties.

Sen. Alan Cropsey was the keynote speaker, followed by “The Baby’s Prayer,” sung by Shiela Pawlowski and Bob Clark. Saralee Howard led the presentation of rose buds carried by children in attendance, announcing the number of abortions performed in the U. S. each year beginning with 1973. Ed Rivet led the crowd in singing “God Bless America.” A poster contest for students in grades 8-12 was sponsored by the St. Jude Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree of DeWitt. Out of over 50 participants, the first place prize of $200 was awarded to the Lansing area Homeschoolers Students for Life (HSFL), which will help fund their trip to the march in Washington, D.C. next year. The second place prize of $100 went to Sydni Bearss and third place prize of $50 went to Brooke Bengel and Sarah Spitzley, all from St. Mary’s Catholic School of Westphalia. Hot chocolate and cookies were served afterwards at the Right to Life of Michigan Legislative Office. Thanks to all those who traveled near and far in remembrance of those lives cut short by legalized abortion.
