A unique and special gift

Once upon a time, the five grown sons of Maxim and Chloe Altkey wanted to give their parents a very special 40th wedding anniversary gift - something unique and lasting. The couple certainly didn't need any more imported cuckoo clocks or bed & breakfast getaway weekends. They often told their boys they were blessed to have everything they needed and then some. Their goal in life now was to make a difference in the lives of others - their sons, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren, and others they would never know but wanted to help. Their sons knew that Maxim and Chloe faithfully supported the work of Right to Life of Michigan and taught their children and grandchildren to do the same. They knew that without life, nothing else mattered.

When the eldest son, Adam, heard about creating a special RLM fund in his parent's name, he rushed to share the idea with this brothers. With a $5,000 lead gift (each son gave a tax-deductible gift of $1000) they decided to establish the Maxim and Chloe Altkey Family Fund as a part of the Right to Life of Michigan Educational Endowment Fund. They understood they were creating a legacy gift -- a gift that keeps on giving well past the lives of their parents.

Taking it a step further, each son promised to make a significant annual gift to help the fund grow bigger over time, and to teach their children and grandchildren to do the same. A family legacy of charitable philanthropy began because five sons wanted to honor their parents on their 40th wedding anniversary with a unique and special gift.

These special family funds are designed to help build the RLM Educational Endowment Fund for the future life-affirming work of Right to Life of Michigan. The RLM Educational Endowment Fund never spends your gift, rather it is invested and creates interest. Over time, that interest is used to fund RLM educational projects - ads, literature, etc. In essence, it's the gift that keeps on giving year after year after year.
